Last week 340 airmen of the U.S. Air Base Spangdahlem invited the children of the St. Martin Elementary School Bitburg and the Integrative Day Care Center of the Lebenshilfe Bitburg to participate in a competitive sports day.
With financial support from the Host Nation Council Spangdahlem (registered association), the event took place as part of this year’s Special Children’s Day, which is held annually at Spangdahlem Air Base but had to be suspended for last three years due to Corona virus restrictions. The airmen at Spangdahlem Air Base showed great commitment to the event and provided the children with a day full of games, fun and exercise.
The children had the opportunity to take part in various sport competitions at different stations. Thanks to the careful guidance of the airmen, the children succeeded in mastering the sporting challenges.
At the end of the day, all children were awarded with medals. They were all very proud of their performance and had a lot of fun at the event.
The airmen of Spangdahlem Air Base were excited with the turnout and are already looking forward to next year!
